Jason Salus
A Lifetime of Organizing
Building Local Power
Jason quickly became a leader at the local level.
He served as Chair of the Springfield Township Democratic Committee from 2002 through 2005, where he helped flip both the School Board and Township Commissioners from red to blue—an early example of the organizing and strategy that would define his career.
From 2006 through 2022, Jason served as Area 10 Democratic Leader, representing Conshohocken, Plymouth, and Whitemarsh. During that time, he recruited candidates and built infrastructure that strengthened Democratic success across the region.
In 2007, he recruited Leslie Richards to run for Whitemarsh Township Supervisor. In 2011, she joined Josh Shapiro on a historic campaign that flipped the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners from red to blue for the first time since the Civil War.
Public Service & Leadership
Jason has also served in elected office.
In 2007, he was elected to Conshohocken Borough Council, defeating an incumbent who had authored a book on the Borough’s history. In 2011, he made history again as the first Democrat elected Montgomery County Treasurer.
He later served as MCDC Treasurer from 2014 through 2015, and as the organization’s first Executive Vice Chair from 2015 through 2022.
During that time, Jason chaired the annual Fall Dinner Committee, transforming it into a consistent six-figure fundraising event and bringing national leaders to Montgomery County, including:
Josh Shapiro
Tom Wolf
Ashley Biden
Jamie Raskin
Hakeem Jeffries
Bennie Thompson
Chair of MCDC
Since June 2022, Jason has served as Chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.
Under his leadership, MCDC has reached new heights—electing the majority-making member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, flipping 16 municipal and school boards across the county, achieving record-breaking turnout in a municipal election year, and raising more than $2 million to support Democratic candidates and organizing efforts.
In 2024, Jason served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
